If money is no object (and when is that the case?) i strongly recommend something with some built in redundancy. You can go JBOD (just a bunch of disc) by buying a case and putting in some discs, or you could go whole hog and buying either a Drobo or my preference: an Iomega IX2, or IX4. I'm getting an IX4 with 8Tb, which will be 4 terabytes mirrored, so that when I have the inevitable crash, I'll still have that data backed up. Seems like a lot of space? Wait til you start backing up your video too...

" If money is no object (and when is that the case?.. " , one of the foundational truisms of our lot . ;-)

More precisely RAID-5 would get you 6TB of storage vs 4TB with mirroring. I'm trying to understand your choice of mirroring?

Why not RAID rather than mirror?

If you want to get technical... RAID-1 is mirroring. Maybe this will help: http://tinyurl.com/39su6kt
